This 10-day adventure combines the extraordinary landscapes of the Danakil Depression with the cultural and historical treasures of northern Ethiopia. The journey begins in Addis Ababa with a flight to Semera, the gateway to the Afar region.
From Semera, we travel through the spectacular Afar landscape, visiting Asayta and its local market, the salt lake of Afdera, and the remarkable volcanic landscapes of the Danakil Depression. The adventure continues to Lake Asale, Dallol, known for its extraordinary colorful mineral formations and otherworldly scenery, and the dramatic volcanic landscapes around Erta Ale.
The journey also includes the Saba Trek in Afar, offering an opportunity to experience the remote environment and the traditional way of life of the Afar people. From Afar, we continue toward Mekelle, entering the historic and mountainous region of Tigray.
In Tigray, we explore the spectacular Gheralta Mountains, with their dramatic cliffs, valleys and ancient rock-hewn churches. The journey concludes in Axum, one of Ethiopia’s most important ancient cities, famous for its archaeological heritage, ancient stelae and connections to Ethiopia’s early civilization.
